A picnic to feel inspired by

As someone who makes her living writing about and taking pictures of food, Bea spends a lot of time thinking about how to set a gorgeous table.

If you are like me, you not only like picnics because they mean outdoors, relaxed time, sun and play, but also because they involve good food, friends, and lots of nice gadgets to play with. Needless to say that I am a huge fan of anything I can find to make my picnics colorful and tasty. I like to feel as if I were dressing up a nice table outside.

You do not need much. A good picnic basket, some plastic containers that are easy to pack, a blanket, an umbrella, and a few picnic chairs. It can be done near a tree by a river, at the beach, or at the top of a mountain after an enjoyable hike.

Eco-friendly bowls in a riot of colors

As someone who makes her living writing about and taking pictures of food, Bea spends a lot of time thinking about how to set a gorgeous table.

When I first came across these eco-friendly bowls, my main challenge was not whether or not to buy them — this was already decided — but what color and size I would choose. If I had listened to myself, I would probably have bought one in each color.

A few companies sell these bamboo bowls, so it is not choices that will be lacking.

I particularly love this first one from Lekker:

At Joanne Hudson Basics, you can find a different style, in a different finish, but just as lovely. I own a few.
