Inspired by Jackie Kennedy Onassis

I’ve been really into making fashion inspiration boards lately. Would you like to see more of these?

I’ve always loved Jackie O’s style, and not only because we share a first name. I love the chic, beachy style she adopted after marrying Aristotle Onassis. From the beach, to shopping, to reclining on her yacht, she looked elegant and beautiful.

What’s your shoe of summer?

Megan covets many shoes (especially sexy librarian pumps), but when it comes to buying, she's all about building a classic, versatile collection of soles.

I’m back! I apologize for my absence — when you’re in your last semester of college, your priorities are rearranged for you. Hopefully I’ll be posting a little more regularly now that I have more time to indulge the shoe addict in me.

Yes, I graduated from college! Here are the shoes I wore on my graduation day:

I bought these a year ago for $16 at Ross and had never worn them. Notice the picture on the left of me trying to discreetly massage my feet with a smile on my face!

Graduation means freedom and an entrance into the “real world” (which, in the current economy, is a bit scary for the class of 2009), but on a more materialistic note, it also means graduation presents. I’ve been blessed to have a loving and generous family, and I received a lot of great gifts — most of which went straight into my savings account, as it should be with any grad.

Anyway, with a $20 Victoria’s Secret gift card (and a very well-timed 25%-off-a-single-item special), I was able to score these 4-inch Colin Stuart heels for under $30 — and the original price was $88!

What do you think? What shoes do you have your eye on this summer?

The best thing about spring and summer is how you can transform an outfit with simple, stylish accessories.

Check out how I created two separate looks: one funky and feminine and the other more chic and sophisticated.

Which look do you like better? How would you style this strapless purple dress from Target?

Funky & Feminine : Forever 21 linen cardigan, Forever 21 printed scarf, Payless patent pink wedges, Forever 21 necklace

Chic & Sophisticated : Forever 21 coral earrings, Target Mossimo gladiator platforms, Forever 21 belt, Forever 21 vest

The summer scarf: Yay or nay?

Dina is StyleFeeder's resident marketing goddess and shopping addict, who will keep you up to date on what's new and hot with the StyleFeeder community.

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, they’re everywhere this season: summer scarves. This trend can be spotted on celebs and real people of both sexes. From John Mayer…

To Jessica Alba…

…there aren’t many places these lightweight accessories haven’t been spotted. Even Rachael Ray has donned a jaunty scarf, though that didn’t work out so well for her.

You won’t see me sporting a scarf this summer. I get the arguments for: it’s an easy way to add color and pattern to an outfit. (Believe me, I went through a scarf phase about 10 years ago because I thought they were a professional way to add pizzazz to a suit. I had a very elaborate way of tying the fabric, that in retrospect, made me look like I had been decapitated and was trying to keep my head tied to my body through a small square of fabric and sheer force of will.)

Summer beauty bargains

Jackie has champagne tastes on a student budget. That’s why she keeps a close eye on celebrity trends, then scours fast fashion outlets to recreate the look for less.

I love summer because I can streamline my shower and beauty routines. Although more leg-shaving is required, I don’t feel like I have to wear as much make-up or do as much to my hair when the weather heats up. Part of that is due to the overall freedom that summer allows in clothing trends and hair styles (hello, waves!) But, another good reason for streamlining is that your hair might not hold up so well in 100% humidity and you certainly don’t want foundation sliding off your face. It doesn’t look good and feels even worse!

I use nearly all these products daily in the summer to keep my beauty and shower routine simple, fun and affordable. You can by all of these things–except for one or two–at your local drugstore, Target or on drugstore.com.

Shower

  • Dove Advanced Color Care is a shampoo I tried on a whim and loved. It really softens my very color-treated hair and helps prevent split-ends and frizz. The scent reminds me a bit of Downy fabric softener–in a good way, trust me–and the color of the bottle is about the girliest you can get.
  • Aveda Blue Malva conditioner saves my hair. I’m naturally brunette, so when I dye my hair blond, it has a tendency to become quite brassy in the sun. This conditioner zaps those gold tones out and brightens the cool tones in my hair instead.

  • I love all Burt’s Bees products, but this Radiance Exfoliating Body Bar takes the cake. It has a sweet–but not overbearing–scent, which is a huge plus. Others soaps can have too timid a scent or one that’s too strong. I like the rich lather of this as well.
  • Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish face scrub is a morning and evening must for my skin. During the summer you sweat more (obviously), so you want to make sure you keep your pores clear of dirt and bacteria to avoid break-outs. This scrub gets my skin clean without irritation and also has anti-wrinkle ingredients in it. Although I’m 21, it’s never too early to prevent early signs of aging.

Summer style from the stars

Jackie has champagne tastes on a student budget. That’s why she keeps a close eye on celebrity trends, then scours fast fashion outlets to recreate the look for less.

It’s time for another of my “celebrity” style posts, where we break down the looks sported by favorite stars and recreate the look for less than the cost of one Jimmy Choo.

  • This mock-croc purse from F21 echoes the feel of Mrs. Longoria-Parker’s, but at a drastically cheaper price point.
  • For petite women, it’s heels, heels, heels, all the time. Try some sky high platforms like these.
  • Watch out for over-enthusiastic air conditioning in the summer and keep some of your body heat with a cashmere scarf.
  • This melon-colored dress is light, airy and good to wear on this long, humid summer days.
