Gardening in style

Viil has an uncanny ability to find that crazy chair, secret bookcase or floating bed that you didn’t know you needed and can’t find anywhere else.

Spring is here, and believe it or not organic vegetable gardening is a really hot trend! It seems like anyone who has a yard or a patio is planning to plant tomatoes, lettuce and culinary herbs. Here are some suggestions for those of you who would like to jump on this bandwagon.

One way to get started with gardening is to get the Culinary Herb Garden Kit, which includes seeds and growing instructions for eight useful herbs, and plant them in these practical Self-watering Flower Pots by Eva Solo. Both of these are great gifts too.

Tend to your plants like a pro wearing these Tattoo City Waterproof Gardening Boots and using a colorful Calle Gardening Tool Set.

Yesterday I visited my local H&M and tried on one of the Matthew Williamson dresses. I loved it, but thought it was slightly pricey for H&M–$80! What do you think of the dress?

Leggings that make you go hmm, Part Deux

Dina is StyleFeeder's resident marketing goddess and shopping addict, who will keep you up to date on what's new and hot with the StyleFeeder community.

I was glad to find that I wasn’t the only one puzzled by the idea of dropped-crotch leggings. But ever since I wrote that post, I’ve started to be alert to their presence. StyleFeeder oona claims she’s seen them all over Italy, and apparently, they are now hitting the streets of Moscow, per The Sartorialist:

So what do we think? Like them any better on real people?

On a separate but related note, I was cruising around at Brown’s Fashion and stumbled upon designer Pam Hogg’s latest collection. You can purchase her superhero-esque collection as separates (leggings and T’s), but I’m digging this jumpsuit more:

Having grown up believing Wonder Woman was a feminist icon, I can appreciate Hogg’s inspiration. But in this economy, is anyone going to shell out more than 500 pounds to look like a glam Power Ranger?

Colored tights: How bold will you go?

Jackie has champagne tastes on a student budget. That’s why she keeps a close eye on celebrity trends, then scours fast fashion outlets to recreate the look for less.

Colored tights are suddenly stylish again–and I’m scared to death. My comfort zone lies distinctly in the realm of grays, blacks and the occasional–gasp–blue. I envy girls who pull off red and bright cobalt tights. I’m working up the nerve, but sometimes I still feel like a clown when I wear them.

For a style blog I started with my sister, I posted a picture in these teal DKNY tights:

(Above) That’s how they looked on me.

(Above) That’s how they look on the DKNY model.

A good source for colorful tights once you’ve worked up the nerve is We Love Colors. They have a bright blue pair I’ve been checking out.

Are you ready to try colorful tights yet? Have you come up with some great outfit/tights combinations? I’d love to see them!

Go nerd chic with LEGO jewelry

Graphic designer and tech blogger Tierra loves exploring the intersection of fashion and technology...from laptops to mobile to the latest gotta-have gadget, she's your girl.

The best thing that could ever happen to a tech geek fashionista is the new nerd chic trend! I love the style, and there are plenty of designers that I think really capture the essence of nerd chic. My fave part of the trend is definitely the funky LEGO jewelry that’s popping up everywhere! Here are some of my favorite LEGO pieces:

The fruitstripe plus limited edition bracelet by – reware by emiko which retails for $240 is made from repurposed LEGOs, with patented sterling silver tubing and synthetic rubber corundum set in 14k gold.

Dee and Ricky pixel heart pin for $20 dollars. This pin is soooo cute that it’s sold out for now.

Dee and Ricky, who happen to be twins, design jewelry and recently had their pieces featured on the Marc Jacob runway (below).
