Sticking with the headboard

While scouting on behalf of her clients everywhere from Pier 1 to High Point, Julieann of Jace Interiors has a birds-eye view of what’s new and different in home décor. You can also follow her on her blog CreateGirl.

Fall has arrived, which means I need to tear myself off the deck and retreat inside. Looking around my bedroom, things are feeling a little dull, beyond the lack of sun and shorter days. I need something to cheer me up! I am saving for a new sofa and don’t really have $800 to update with a new bed, but what I do have is $55 for this beautiful Queen headboard!

Now that is some bargain. I get the effect of a new bed without draining the wallet. Check out fantastically talented architect Mina Jivad’s new collection of decals over at Blik.

Her headboard creations are available in an array of trendy colors, so you will have the most up-to-date looking bedroom and be the envy of all those who are just wishing for a new bed.

Class up your joint with wall graffiti

Dina is StyleFeeder's resident marketing goddess and shopping addict, who will keep you up to date on what's new and hot with the StyleFeeder community.

It’s staring at you: a big blank wall, just crying out for a pop of color or a dramatic piece of art. If only you had the funds to buy a huge canvas, or the creativity to paint one yourself.

We had this problem when the StyleFeeder team moved to our new offices in lovely Cambridge, Massachusetts. Luckily, fellow Tastemaker Julieann had clued me in to a company called Wonderful Graffiti. She had used their wall decals for some of her interior design clients in the past and raved about the ease of application and graphic impact. So we decided to give their products a try.

We sent the Wonderful Graffiti designers our wall measurements, an approximation of our paint color, a file of our company logo, and some quotes we wanted to use to dress up the barren wasteland that is our conference room. We sent some proofs back and forth, and next thing we knew, several tubes of decal goodness arrived in our offices.

The first one was a bit challenging to apply, but once we had the method down, the rest went up with no issues. Check out these quotes on the wall of our conference room:

Make your walls stand out

Viil has an uncanny ability to find that crazy chair, secret bookcase or floating bed that you didn’t know you needed and can’t find anywhere else.

So you want to give your space a face lift and get a fresh look. Why not make your walls stand out? I already covered photo wallpaper and photo tiles in a posting on customizing your space with your photos. Let’s see what other alternatives there are beyond good old paint and common wallpaper…

Transparent Concrete Walls Anyone?

The last thing I think of when hearing the word transparent is concrete, but despite this, the Hungarian architect Áron Losonczi has invented something as incredible as light-transmitting concrete. He calls this new material LiTraCon, and I can’t wait to see what people will do with it!

Transparent concrete walls requires some planning ahead, and most of us are stuck with already existing walls. But don’t despair! There a lots of ways to make your walls stand out without rebuilding them from scratch.

Light Emitting Wallpaper

The Dutch designer Jonas Samson has designed light-emitting wallpaper. It looks pretty interesting, but his website doesn’t explain the details of the concept. In particular, it doesn’t explain how you make your walls light up. It looks to me like his wallpaper requires entire light walls, in which case, it will involve a considerable amount of work. Let’s find an easier way to decorate our walls shall we?
