Get inspired: Beautiful Scandinavian design

As someone who makes her living writing about and taking pictures of food, Bea spends a lot of time thinking about how to set a gorgeous table.

On our recent trip to Copenhagen, I made a point of visiting stores selling Danish-designed objects; I am particularly fond of Scandinavian design. I was expecting to see vases, mugs and plates of all types and shapes, simple and minimalist in style. I was not disappointed. The Danes have great taste. We wandered the streets of Copenhagen for hours, and stopped many times admiring the window displays where we found inspiration.

On our way to visit the castle in the city, we found out about AnneMette Kissow’s lovely ceramics store, and after a nice chat with her, we left with one of her cute vases:

Really, it is worth exploring her site!

At Royal Copenhagen, I bought two colorful mugs that are perfect for tea, hot chocolate or coffee, with a silicone wrapping for insulation.

Eco-friendly bowls in a riot of colors

As someone who makes her living writing about and taking pictures of food, Bea spends a lot of time thinking about how to set a gorgeous table.

When I first came across these eco-friendly bowls, my main challenge was not whether or not to buy them — this was already decided — but what color and size I would choose. If I had listened to myself, I would probably have bought one in each color.

A few companies sell these bamboo bowls, so it is not choices that will be lacking.

I particularly love this first one from Lekker:

At Joanne Hudson Basics, you can find a different style, in a different finish, but just as lovely. I own a few.
