Facial products for sensitive beauty snobs

Tough life – as a TV personality and Co-Owner of SkorchStyle, an online resource for plus-size fashionistas, Carrie’s got to spend her days scoping out clothes, accessories and beauty products.

If you are like me, you are careful about what kind of beauty products you use on your sensitive skin. Here are some of my favorites. I hope you’ll check them out and let me know what you think of them as well!

I have searched all over for the perfect illuminating makeup for my skin, and Keelie Nicole Mineral Fresh Glow is it. My personal color choice is stargaze. This product is hands down, my absolute favorite yet. If you’ve ever wondered how magazines get their models to look like they have perfectly dewy and radiant skin, this product does just that. It’s a little bit pricey, but well worth the money.

Apply with foundation brush, sponge or fingers anywhere you want to highlight or add shimmer. Can be used alone, over foundation or mixed in with moisturizer for a more subtle glow. I line my cheek bones, the apples of my cheeks, temples, collar bones, lower lips and the inner corner of my eyes with this product.

Indulge me: Girly treats to survive winter

Tough life – as a TV personality and Co-Owner of SkorchStyle, an online resource for plus-size fashionistas, Carrie’s got to spend her days scoping out clothes, accessories and beauty products.

Any excuse to indulge in my girly splurges is a good one — especially winter. Winter is a perfect time to celebrate the absolute-inner-princess in every woman. Here are a few of my current, must-have feminine indulgences. Oh swoon! :)

1. Cashmere. Must have cashmere. It’s soft and beautiful.

2. Strawberry-based perfume. I know that we are right in the middle of winter, but these scents help to ease winter blues with a sexy and summery scent. Mmm. Delicious.

Estee Lauder’s pleasures delight is a floral confection blending notes of juicy Pomegranate, whipped Strawberry Meringue and tempting Caramel with a sprinkling of Sugared Rose Petals, dewy Freesia, White Peony and Fresh Greens. How can I resist? :)

Yummy! The Strawberries and Champagne collection from Victoria’s Secret! Items are sold separately, starting at about $10.

Work watcha got!

Tough life – as a TV personality and Co-Owner of SkorchStyle, an online resource for plus-size fashionistas, Carrie’s got to spend her days scoping out clothes, accessories and beauty products.

I never thought I’d be lucky enough to craft a career as fun as the one I have now. I like to think of myself as an artistic fashionista, who specializes in helping women to dress the best that they can for their own specific body type (while enjoying all of life’s wonderful indulgences, of course!)

It all started when, frustrated with a lack of fashion coverage that spoke specifically to curvy ladies, my friend Jessica and I co-founded Skorch Magazine, an online fashion publication for women sizes 12+. We’ve continued to grow and morph, and recently changed our name to Skorch Style. I run the production department, which handles booking models and photographers, planning fashion shows and events, coordinating photo shoots, directing fashion spreads and choosing photography.

As Skorch continues to grow, and we’ve also expanded our expertise into television. I’m a segment producer/segment host on the new show Pirate Satellite TV (PSTV), which airs weekly on The CW station in Portland, Oregon. PSTV is a show that features all of the hottest events, people and stories in the Portland area.

I hope to chat with you about the things that define my style…plus fashion, beauty products, and stylish items that no one knows about yet (but should). I’ll even throw in a little music, because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, you can’t have a fashion show or photo shoot without some good tunes!

I also have a production and marketing business that I own, on the side, which helps companies to launch their businesses…with a specialty in working with fashion and style-oriented companies, of course!

Finally, I have four amazingly beautiful and talented daughters that I home school. My daughters are the drive behind what I do.

Enough about me, let’s talk more about me! :) Keep an eye out for my next post on winter indulgences!
