Sandal booties: Loving or hating them?

With her photographer's eye for detail, Brie is always scoping out jewelry, handbags and shoes that perfectly complete an ensemble.

I have noticed that there has been many versions of the “sandal booties” out this season.

They come in many different styles:

Above: Jshoes Sorrento in Black at Revolve Clothing

Above: Hi There Sussannas in Black by Irregular Choice

Above: Warm Leatherette Sandals at Modcloth

And even in boot version:

Above: Figaro Boots at Modcloth

I wasn’t sure about these styles when I first saw them but I have to say, the ”sandal bootie” is growing on me. I haven’t bought a pair yet bu, I am seriously considering it.

How about all you fashionistas?

Loving or hating the “sandal bootie”?

  • That is truly horrible. If the weather is warm, wear sandals. If it’s cold out, wear shoes, socks or boots. There is absolutely no need to try to consolidate them.

    HORRIBLE!!!

  • i think they are ugly if it is cold then put on real shoes if it is hot then just wear a pair of sandels

    - April 29, 2009 13:03 pm
  • No go for me

    - April 29, 2009 13:49 pm
  • I personally find that “sandal booties” are unflattering to any woman. They make even small size feet huge and heavy. Even if you have lovely ankles you couldn’t tell with these things on. They are the opposite of feminine, and are especially unflattering if you don’t have the most fit legs.

    - April 29, 2009 13:50 pm
  • I just don’t see the purpose in having peep toe booties. Too hot for summer to cold for winter, when would you wear them?????

    - April 29, 2009 13:52 pm
  • it really depends on the style. your 2nd picture is the best style. but anyway, i’ma sucker for booties so yeah..booties are always fine:)

    - April 29, 2009 13:58 pm
  • I like some of the sandal booties I’ve seen in fashion shoots… not sure I can see myself wearing them in daily life though.

    - April 29, 2009 14:07 pm
  • Totally hate the sandal bootie.

    - April 29, 2009 15:29 pm
  • I’m all for warm feet, but these are UGLY!! And they do nothing for making your legs look long and lean…..

    - April 29, 2009 15:42 pm
  • OMG the ugliest things!

    - April 29, 2009 15:47 pm
  • The 2nd pair isn’t so bad, but the other 3 ? Yuck !!

    - April 29, 2009 16:57 pm
  • I was going to say unequivocally DUMB, DUMB, DUMB. But the Hi There Sussannas are sort of cool looking. I probably wouldn’t wear them either, though.

    - April 29, 2009 17:45 pm
  • Lordy be, these are hideous. There are many things the fashion industry has foisted on us poor lemmings, and we’ve fallen for it. This is where I draw the line. Ugh.

    - April 29, 2009 18:21 pm
  • Just goes to show that whatever “fashion designers” think up, someone will wear it. These remind me of tourists wearing black socks with sandals. C’mon…..they are ugly!

    - April 29, 2009 18:37 pm
  • I think they’re very unattractive. Not my style at all!!

    - April 29, 2009 18:41 pm
  • Don’t do it these shoes look just as stupid as they sound. It reminds me of another hideous shoe the Ug Boots and the only reason those became famous was cause celebrities started wearing them. This tells me that even as ugly as the shoes are and nonsense, if a celeb sports them they will be selling out in no time….what a shame..

    - April 29, 2009 20:18 pm
  • I like them…fashion is fashion but you have to have a taste in style to put it together with the best selected pieces to pull them off, they look impractical like sneaker heels but hey…they will sell.

    - April 29, 2009 20:51 pm
  • My thoughts still: ewewewew!!

    - April 29, 2009 22:04 pm
  • When summer and winter get all mixed up I guess that is what comes out of it. I don’t like the sandal booties at all. They don’t look like something I would wear ever!

    - April 29, 2009 22:25 pm
  • Surely you jest!

    - April 30, 2009 0:26 am
  • It’s not for everyone, just the styliest people that really dare will like it, and I do! If worn properly, and if fitted to your style, it would be untrue to say they are unattractive and that they don’t help your “shape”… Just make sure to pick the right pair for your body and style. Also, it’s a great alternative to all those oh-so-boring flip-flops, yet not going so far as all these 6 inches hoochie-mama platform sandals… What is not to love??! ;)

    - April 30, 2009 1:51 am
  • Okay, the second pair is definitely the most fashionable. The others look cheep and tacky. I personally would not wear any of them because I have short legs.A petite girl should never wear shoes like this, it will only chop the visual line of your leg and make you look shorter. Unless you’re wanting to wear them in the bedroom with some funky lingerie (leather)or if you are six feet tall and built like a model you should not wear these shoes.

    - April 30, 2009 2:19 am
  • the 3rd pair are pretty… :)

    - April 30, 2009 4:36 am
  • these are absolutely horrible

    - April 30, 2009 4:37 am
  • they are the ugliest shoes on the planet, I would walk barefoot year round if I had to wear them!

    - April 30, 2009 7:46 am
  • They are ugly, totally impractical, and totally ungreen. Part of being green is only buying things that I will use a lot. I do not see anyone wearing this a lot.

I do not see the point at all. In New England, boots are a necessity in the winter…and it is a pleasure to move to sandles in the summer.

    - April 30, 2009 8:33 am
  • I kinda like them! lol
I’m not sure i’d find a great time to wear them, but they’re a very unique piece for sure!

    - April 30, 2009 8:54 am
  • The third and fourth ones here are horrible! Especially the fourth. It doesn’t flatter anything, it actually makes it look like you’re trying to hide cankles. The other types have potential. I think these can be done right and look good, but these pictures don’t represent that. Everything has a person who can make it look good, most of use just may not be the person suited for these.

    - April 30, 2009 9:44 am
  • I think I agree with everyone hear. Either it’s hot or it’s cold….pick one and dress accordingly. I do like the 2nd pair though.

    - April 30, 2009 10:15 am
  • How UGLY!!!

    - April 30, 2009 10:32 am
  • Well, i like the idea of the ’sandal bootie’ but these don’t really look that impressive.
Though they could try combining them better with a bit more swankiness, because the idea, in my opinion, is creative.
Nevertheless you need that little something to make them lovable, that lets people go like: “Ah yeah! That’s different, i wanna try these!”.
1st one would suit me in a bit, but the others.. sorry, No-No!

    - April 30, 2009 11:34 am
  • And if you are out in the sun, can you imagine the tan lines??

    - April 30, 2009 12:44 pm
  • YUCK!!! Just so unattractive, thumbs down for sandal booties :P

    - April 30, 2009 12:50 pm
  • Ewwwwww!!! >:)

    - April 30, 2009 12:51 pm
  • OMG! These are the ugliest things I have ever seen! I would never own a pair. Wear a sandal or a boot, these are two styles that should never be mixed. If these things catch on it will show how people have no minds of their own and simply follow the masses and buy whatever someone tells them is “in” or “cool”.

    - April 30, 2009 15:00 pm
  • I only saw one pair that I actually thought were cute which is the second pair (Hi There Sussannas in Black by Irregular Choice). Other than that, I think they’re ugly and unattractive. I guess they’re more of a hit or miss style. They have the potential to be cute or nice but for the most part, they’re ugly.

    - April 30, 2009 15:05 pm
  • Very strong reactions. The negative reactions remind me of my reaction to harem pants and jumpsuit/rompers. I just find them repulsive and wonder about people who would wear them…while the sandal bootie is more my style because I like funky and weird clothing items….especially shoes. I am guessing the sandal booties are a either “love them” or “hate them” fashion item from the reactions I am seeing.

  • Can you say U-G-L-Y!

    - May 1, 2009 17:34 pm
  • THEY ARE UGLY AS HELL AND I WOULD NOT BE CAUGHT DEAD WEARING THEM!

    - May 1, 2009 21:19 pm
  • These shoes r ugly! nd to be honest i haven’t seen one person wearing ‘em, nd i’m glad i haven’t

    - May 2, 2009 14:29 pm
  • I definitely love the idea, but I haven’t seen the right pair for me. These examples are far too clunky and unflattering, but if I find shorter, flat boots with more sandal in them, I’m on board.

    - May 2, 2009 22:10 pm
  • not my cup of style if I had a pair given to me then the second pair (sussannas)

    - May 4, 2009 1:52 am
  • What can I say that hasn’t been said already! I love the passionate responses girls! However, yes, besides the Irregular Choice pair (2nd pair) I am definitely not a fan at all!

  • Fugly!

    - May 4, 2009 13:00 pm
  • vile!

    - May 4, 2009 22:04 pm
  • Not my style at all! Eep!

    - May 5, 2009 0:31 am
  • sandals and boots r at each end of the shoes spectrum… y combine two extremes? these sandal booties things might possibly be the ugliest thing ive ever seen. total shame for the world of shoes….

    - May 7, 2009 5:00 am
  • i think the 1st pair and the 3rd one is pretty! Very funky and fashionable!

    - May 14, 2009 2:40 am
  • I just posted a comment about this trend on facebook. I don’t get it at all. Whoever started style this should be arrested.

    - August 30, 2009 20:16 pm
  • I just bought a pair from Bebe. Murderously high heel but love them!!!
