Smart and stylish: The rain flat

A blogger for fashion retailer Bluefly.com, Nana breaks down the biggest trends on the curb, the catwalk & the red carpet.

It’s raining. It’s pouring. It’s 90 degrees. What’s a fashionista to do?

This was my dilemma about two weeks ago when the sky suddenly flashed lightning and flushed the streets of NYC with inches of water. Thankfully, I had on flip-flops, but the next day, I saw a smartly dressed sister sporting a much chicer alternative – the rain flat. I’m sure she had to deal with the squishies (water must get in those shoes), but they’re rubber so, who cares?

Either way, it’s a sight better – and more comfortable – than Wellies in sweltering heat. Do yourself a favor and save the minidress and rain boots look for fall.

Now, I just need to find myself a pair! If you have a pair of rain flats you’re gaga over, please let me know where you found them!

  • Hi. I just stumbled on your blog from reading Lucky’s Shop Girl blog. I have a suggestion for you that resembles what the girl in the picture is wearing. They are called Crocs Prima. I know I said the c*word, but these are really cute (I promise!) and would function great as rain shoes. I purchased a pink pair for myself over Christmas as driving shoes and they are really comfortable.

  • ok, i just googled the Crocs Prima, Janet. Not bad! I think I could do without the holes around the top of ‘em, but they do make sense for rainy weather - espesh when the pedicure is way overdue. thanks for bringing them to my attention, Janet. Now of course I want to Google more rain flats - when I should be working!!!
